Ebola Virus Disease in West Africa (2014-2015) IHR Emergency Committee
The IHR Emergency Committee on the Ebola Virus Disease Outbreak in West Africa met on nine occasions from August 2014 to March 2016. On 8 August 2014, the WHO Director-General, based on the advice of the Committee, the reports made by affected States Parties and the available information at the time, declared the Ebola outbreak in West Africa a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) and issued the Committee’s advice as IHR Temporary Recommendations. The Director-General terminated the PHEIC on 29 March 2016.
